How to deal with strawberry runners

Pinching off runners so plants crop well, or pegging a few down to make new plants.

  1. Runners are thin stems with small new plants along them.

  2. Pinch them off as they appear, so the plant puts its energy into fruit.

  3. For new plants, peg a few into small pots of compost and cut them free once rooted.

When to do it

It depends on the crop. Tap one for the dates where you live.
