BlightBrown patches on potato and tomato leaves

Blight: brown patches on potato and tomato leaves

Brown patches that spread fast over leaves and stems in warm, wet weather. Tomatoes get brown, rotting patches too.

When it shows up: Midsummer to autumn, in warm, wet spells

What to do

  1. Cut off affected leaves straight away and bin them, not the compost.

  2. Potatoes: cut all the stems off at the ground, then lift the potatoes 2 to 3 weeks later.

  3. Tomatoes: pick the healthy fruit now. It ripens fine indoors.
